Obama Addresses MPs & Peers In Westminster

The US President’s address in Westminster Hall comes as his say visit to the UK approaches an end.

He said: “I have come here to reaffirm one of the strongest and oldest alliances…our relationship is special because of values and beliefs that unite our people.”

Mr Obama added that the fashionable argument that the US and UK is in decline “is wrong – the time for our leadership is now”.

Earlier he held a joint press conference with David Cameron and said: “The relationship between our countries is built on shared ideals and shared values…it is stronger than it has ever been.”
